Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself

Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.

We all have our imperfections. But I’m human, and you know, it’s important to concentrate on other qualities besides outer beauty.

Of course, my blog is about makeup artistry and all the lovely and creative looks we can achieve because of it. But I’m also a believer in the idea that true beauty comes from within. True confidence, happiness, and power – come from within.

I’ve said it many times and will continue to until I reach as many people as I possibly can: makeup can only hide our “flaws” for so long, we need to love ourselves for who we are besides just the outer shell.

It’s way easier said than done, trust me, I know. But one of the tricks I find helps me when I’m not particularly feeling too great about how I look or how I feel: I look in the mirror and instead of focusing on that negative thing, I smile at my reflection, say “you’re beautiful” out loud, and walk away.

It’s partially “fake it ’till you make it”, but most importantly it’s changing the self-deprecating thoughts we believe to be true into something way more powerful.

Because a woman who loves herself – has so much love to give others.

The Power of Red Lipstick

If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack.

Coco Chanel

Red lipstick somehow makes me feel powerful, confident, and unstoppable. I used to be afraid of bold lip colours on myself, sticking to neutrals for everyday wear and busting out the red on a special occasion.

But then I realized, why do I have to wear it only for special occasions? It makes me feel incredible, so why not make every day that special day?

These days I wear red lipstick almost every day: the roles have switched and now I barely wear nude colours! I always say that the power of makeup is not that it can provide a mask for us to hide behind, but that it can accentuate our already beautiful qualities and give a confidence boost when we need it.

Some of my favorite reds of all kinds of undertones are shown and listed below:

From left to right:

Milani “Matte Confident”
L’Oreal “I Don’t”
Wet’n’Wild “Missy and Fierce”
NYX Suede “Spicy”
Maybelline 645 “Red Revival” (one of my first ever reds!)
MAC “Russian Red”
Urban Decay “Psycho”

Most of these finishes are a comfortable, long-lasting formula, some lasting longer than others, some slightly drier than others, but no significant difference at all! The color varies from a little more cooler blue-toned to a more warmer-toned red, which one suits you depends on the undertone of your skin color.

What is your favourite red lipstick? How often do you wear bold colours? I’d love to read your comments below!

Uncovering Your Potential

Beneath the makeup and behind the smile, I am just a girl who wishes for the world.

I believe in the transformative power of makeup and really enjoy helping people discover a different side of themselves with different looks I create. But true happiness and confidence always starts from within.
